DESCRIPTION:
Antique athletic sweater.
By A.G. SPALDING & BROS.  Shawl neck cardigan.  Heavy wool.  Bright, fire engine red color.  5 button placket plus 2 button loops on collar.  2 pockets at waist.  3/4" diam. faux tortoise celluloid buttons.
Square white baseball logo tag with red and black stitching:  "A. G. Spalding & Bros. - Made in U.S.A. - Reg. U.S. Pat. Off." with baseball logo "Trade-Spalding-Mark".
Late 1920s I believe.  USA.
CONDITION:
Missing the 3 lower buttons.  There are a few small/minor scattered pulls which I have left as found.  The black horizontal Spalding collar tag is mostly absent.  There is wear to the square Spalding baseball logo tag.  Consult photos for all of this.  Other than the absent buttons none of this is conspicuous.
Otherwise this sweater is in excellent original condition with no damages and no significant wear.  No apparent restorations/repairs.
No holes.  No significant pulls.  No stains or discolorations.  No fading or color irregularity.  No fraying.  No loose stitching.  No bug damage.
No signs of abuse.
Generally clean as found.  No unpleasant odors.  No soiling.  (There is a dry-cleaning tag still attached to the inside collar--present when I acquired the sweater).
Displays well.
